adopting an underdog
URR believes in forever homes. That's why we spend a lot of time with humans who would like to begin or add to a human/dog pack, making sure that the humans know a lot about their perspective new pack member, and about how to successfully integrate a dog who has had some tough experiences coming off the street and/or spending a long time in a shelter. We also spend a lot of time with UUR dogs in foster settings, helping them remember (or learn for the first time!) how to be a polite and positive member of a household. And, we offer Dog Parenting 101, to help prospective adoptive parents make sure they understand the commitment and have the knowledge and skills they need to make it a forever home.
If that sounds like a lot of work, it is - for us, our foster families, and adoptive families. Why do we do it? Because we have seen what happens when you don't - the pack doesn't gel, and everyone is unhappy. We do it because we believe in forever homes!
If you think you might be interested in adopting an UUR dog, click here to request more information. If you are inquiring about a specific dog, please please use the form form on that dog's page. We will contact you to gather more information and tell you more about the process. Yes, we will ask you for a lot of information - if you were being adopted, wouldn't you want the agency to be sure the home was right for you?
